This was one of her better books, as the second installment of the Dennehy sisters series. For those who have read the first Dennehy sister book, Wild Sweet Ecstacy, you will know that Rennie is the identical twin of Michael, the heroine in the first book. I think the author did a great job of makine Rennie and Michael their own persons, and not carbon copies of each other except in looks. The characters had completely different personalities, and as such were more believable. Rennie is a strong female character, and perfectly suited to Jarred, the hero. I love the conflicts between the two characters, as she never makes love easy between her characters. This book has a great plot, and is one you can read through without wanting to put it down. This is by far her best series, as she has several that are all well done and enjoyable. I would recommend to any Jo Goodman fan, and also to anyone who likes historical romance.

One of the most pleasant surprises was the fact that Rennie and her twin were gifted in different spheres. Michael Dennehy (known as ‘Michael’) was a reporter at the New York Chronicle; her story is told in MORE THAN A TOUCH (alternate title WILD SWEET ECSTASY). Rennie is a construction engineer for the railroads. Both women experience prejudice against their gender in the workplace.

The story opens with everyone getting ready for Rennie’s wedding to one of her co-workers, vice president Hollis Banks. Although not a love match, Rennie is practical and sees this as a way to be accepted as a contributing member of the staff and to exert more control in the company.

Rennie’s father, Jay Mac offers $10,000 to stop the wedding. Jerret Sullivan takes him up on the offer. At the same time, 2 miscreants from MORE THAN A TOUCH (alternate title WILD SWEET ECSTASY) are trying to kill Michael. Since Rennie is an identical twin, she is in as much danger as her sister. Jerret Sullivan is hired to protect Rennie.

Although Rennie wasn’t thrilled to marry Hollis (and each member of her family was against it), she pitched a fit when Jerret interfered. Both Rennie and Jerret are very likeable characters, as are all of the members of this extensive family. It’s a joy to watch them interact.

The enormously wealthy Jay Mac has had all five of the Dennehy sisters out-of-wedlock. He has not been stigmatized by this – but his mistress (of 25 years) and her daughters have been ostracized from polite society. Jay Mac becomes a major part of the second half of this book; he is quite a dynamic character!

Everything about this story was wonderful; the character development, pacing of the story and plot lines were entertaining. A joy to read!
